All entrants must be 18 years of age or older.

Do not send the original of the manuscript or an SASE. Entries will not be returned. The copyright must be the property of the entrant.

There is no limit to the number of submissions from each entrant, but a separate fee must be paid for each submission.
|
|
4.
|
Each entry must have a separate cover sheet attached to the entry with the following information clearly marked: title, category, number of lines/words, name, mailing address, day & evening telephone numbers, and e-mail address of the entrant. The title must also be placed on each page of the entry --with no other identification. Entries must be typed on one side of letter-size white paper; entries other than poetry must be double-spaced. Four copies of each entry must be submitted.

POETRY:

No entry to exceed 100 lines.

ESSAY/NON-FICTION:

SHORT STORY/FICTION:

STORY FOR JUVENILES: (Ages 8-12)

No entry to exceed 1200 words.

$10 per submission

Any category that as less than 10 entries will not be judged.

Entries must be postmarked no later than February 22, 2008 and mailed to:

Make checks payable to the Mount Dora Library Association/ Annual Writers Contest. Please do not send cash.

Any entry that does not follow the contest rules will not be considered for judging.
|
8.
|
Winners will be informed by mail before March 24, 2008. The decision of the judges is final.
|
9.
|
There will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in the four categories. Entries from first place winners will be published on the Mount Dora Library Association website and will be read at the Writers Reception on Saturday, April 5, 2008 (preferably by their authors, if present). Prizes will be awarded at that time.

10.
|
Each category will be awarded prizes as follows:
· 1st - $150.00 · 2nd - $100.00 · 3rd - $75.00
|
11.
|
There will be a special $500 Dr. Jack Farnham, M.D. Non-Fiction Prize award, given by the Kiwanis Club of Mount Dora, for the best essay (2500 words or less) on the following question:
"How can health care in the United States of America be improved in the foreseeable future?"
This prize will be given only if the essay entries merit consideration.
